Introduction

The application of security measures requires the unfailing professionalism of the security personnel to display knowledge, tact and friendly approach to duty. To this purpose, APSS has set up a specific department intended to consolidate the professionalism.

The PQC&T (Product-Quality-Control & Training) is assigned to ensure the durability of the quality management system, the operational control of the security services and the training of APSS personnel

  • Initial training subjects

Initial training includes the following specialties:

  • Physical search of passenger and, cabin-baggage.
  • Aircraft guarding
  • Aircraft cabin search
  • Checked Baggage integrity maintaining and PPBM
  • Catering security and supervision
  • Cargo security and supervision
  • Guarding of airport facilities
  • Access control

Profiler-Travel document check and Training:

  • Reading of passports and ID cards
  • Reading of flight tickets
  • Forgery detection
  • Suspicious signs in documentation
  • Suspicious signs in appearance and behaviour
  • Mandatory baggage control questions
  • Customer service

A teaching syllabus is defined for each type of activity and qualification with modules meeting operational needs. Thus, distinct courses are organised for the security personnel and for team leaders and supervisors.

Refresher  Training

 Each year operating staff take part in at least a day’s refresher training .The topics treated on this occasion resume the modules of initial training and feedback from the operations. The training manager will choose the priority of the topics in accordance with regulatory evolutions, threats and specific needs of the client(s).

Security personnel additional training

 Beyond the mandatory training obliged by the authority and the clients, APSS delivers diverse trainings to its staff:

Dangerous Goods Regulations

In respect of the obligations defined by IATA, the security personnel receive a 7 hours training on dangerous goods and regulations/ conditions of carriage as published.

Awareness on the prevention of risks related physical activity (PRAP 

To reduce industrial accidents and give a response within the company to the harmonization of Muscles and skeletal troubles linked to security application measures (physical search, baggage handling etc.), the training department has developed a module to teach staff on how to pick suspicious characters for further interrogation.

Training and Facilitation

 To bring quality and   professionalism to these training, APSS has signed up an MOU with Emirates Group Security, other local and foreign trainers who come in to train staff of APSS on all modules of programmes and role plays in conjunction with training clips on job safety, aircraft search etc. the Training department sets up a whole series of training modules dealing with customer service, the methodologies of passenger service, passenger reception and specific treatment in a friendly acceptable way.

The nomenclature of initial and refreshment training coupled with periodic role-plays are structured by module. Each module is defined according to the tasks on precise objectives.

Transmission of Operational Instructions

To facilitate the understanding of procedures and local instructions, we establish for each position operational procedures showing in practical terms the application of operational instructions. After every new instruction, information is presented at daily briefings led by the supervisor. The reception of the information is controlled by this supervisory staff.
